With two resident golf professionals offering expert group and individual tuition, excellent short and long game practice areas, I cannot understand why I am not a scratch golfer. Perhaps I spend too much time socialising at the 19th hole - after all Pike Fold is such a friendly club!
I joined Pike Fold Golf Club in August 2011 taking advantage of an offer of 17 months membership for the price of 12. I joined with my two-brother in-laws and father in-law. We had all played golf for a number of years using various websites for cheap tee times which was ok, but none of us had official handicaps or the benefit of being able to call at a golf course to hit a few balls on the way home from work. We were also lacking the sense of belonging that comes with being a member of a golf club.
We were welcomed into Pike Fold with open arms where we encountered passionate golfers of all levels who were willing to support and encourage us in obtaining our handicaps and then participating in the variety of competitions that are organised through the club. The winter league was our initiation to competitive golf, and the summer season offers a full calendar of events with weekly competitions and a mid-week roll up. Competitive golf is not the only benefit of being a member, for those who want to just enjoy social golf; there is always a friendly face and welcoming new partner to share a round with. There are also a variety of social events on offer that are family, and more importantly, child friendly.
The golf course offers a fair and robust examination of your golf but is accessible and not overbearing for a new golfer.
I joined Pike fold Golf Club to take advantage of a good value saving in membership fees. I will remain a member because of the richness it offers me. Great people who are passionate about their golf and who provide a solid organisation and infrastructure that supports all aspects of my golfing and social needs without being so serious that the enjoyment of a pastime is compromised.
